Scott was 8 weeks yesterday. I can not believe how fast time is flying by. He has his 2 month check up next week and I can't wait to find out how much he weighs. He has changed so much. He smiles all the time, coos and almost laughs!! He has been sleeping through the night since 6 1/2 weeks, AWESOME. He goes down at about 9:30/10:00 and sleeps until 7am. Usually I have to wake him up so that I can start the day with Olivia etc. I know, I know, poor me, but seriously, I need him to get up at like 6/6:30am, that would fit my schedule much better :) I think once I go back to work, I will put him down earlier so that he gets up a little earlier so we aren't all rushing at the last minute to get out the door.
NOW, Scott woke up at 4am this morning and those of you who know me, I am VERY strict to my schedule and ALWAYS will be. Being that I know he can sleep through the night and go a lot longer than 4am, I refused to feed him then. I got up and sat in the rocking chair and rocked him back to sleep with his pacifier and then snuggled him in bed until he woke up again at 6am. I then fed him. I know some of you are saying how mean that is, but I know there is at least one person who is very proud of me, my aunt!!! I was the same way with Olivia and she never woke up again in the middle of the night or early morning. They can get very used to that bottle again and starting waking up early. Doctors and experts say that when babies wake in the middle of the night, it is not because they are hungry, their little bodies just don't sleep for long stretches of time and their internal clocks are not working properly yet. It is not hunger that wakes them. I am a FIRM believer in this especially when they prove then can go for 9 or 10 hour stretches of sleep without waking, so we snuggled for 2 hours and he slept and woke and was fed at 6am. I am certainly tired b/c I didn't go back to sleep and have been awake since 4am, but I am damn proud of myself b/c the easiest thing would have been to feed him and go back to sleep, but gosh darn it, I am sticking to my schedule and no one will break me of that!!!
Enjoy Scott's pictures from today.
