Update

Well, I took the day off work yesterday to care for Scott and to take him to the pediatrician's office to follow up on his HFMD. Right before I was ready to walk out the door with him, Olivia says that her tongue hurts. I checked it out and I didn't see anything so I checked her hands and feet and sure enough she had the blisters on her foot. I took her with me as well and by the time we got to the dr's office, she had an ulcer on the side of her tongue. They both had fevers today and I received a notification from Scott's daycare that some of the kids have now come down with it. It is so terrible and you feel so helpless because there isn't much you can do other than let it run it's course. I am so upset b/c Olivia is missing school this week and it's the end of the school year. She is missing all of the practices for her graduation that is taking place on Tuesday next. I pray she is better by then so we can go to the graduation!

I will keep everyone updated!

Memorial Day

What a fun filled weekend. The kids and I packed up Saturday morning and drove down to PA for our annual Memorial Day weekend with the Gordons in PA. Erik stayed behind to replace our carpeting, paint, replace our sliders etc, so hopefully we can get this place on the market ASAP (everything looks great and I am soooo happy!). Anyway, the ride down was horrific. Scott screamed for about 2 out of the 3 hours. At that time I thought it was just that he wanted out of his carseat and I also knew he was cutting his bottom eye teeth. The top ones took about a month to cut threw and that was terrible. Once we got there, he was ok but he was drooling so badly, I had never seen anything like it before in my life. We went through about 3 shirts before he went to bed. He also wasn't eating at all which is not like him. He wanted the food so badly but as soon as it was in his mouth he would scream, so I didn't know what the heck was going on. He went to bed early Saturday night which was good and mommy had a great time with her friends!! They had a BBQ Saturday afternoon that lasted into the wee hours of the morning. UGH! It was a blast and the kids were exhausted and went to bed early as well. They had a moon bounce which occupied them all day.

Anyway, Sunday morning Scott woke up in a terrible mood and was SCREAMING bloody murder. He wouldn't eat or drink and I looked in his mouth and under his tongue was all white. Diana checked him out and thought it was hand foot mouth disease. He had a bit of a rash on his wrists and his legs, so she drove Scott and I to the ER Sunday morning. It was terrible being away from home, but she was great. We both were sobbing in the ER room b/c he was crying so hard and we couldn't comfort him. We were blubbering idiots. Thank GOD the ER wasn't anything like Danbury Hospital. We were the only ones there and got in and out quite quickly. Sure enough he had HFMD and they gave us medicine to numb his mouth and thank you to Diana prescribed some heavy duty pain meds for him sinceMotrin was doing absolutely nothing. Once he was on the meds he was another kid and back to his normal cheerful self, once they wear off, it's terrible again.

Once we got back from the ER on Sunday he slept for 4 hours and Olivia, Tyler and Ashley had a great day outside playing bubbles, riding bikes, having a picnic. They were so cute and had so much fun together. I got sunburned with stupid tan lines, but what else is new??? They all took a bath since they were FILTHY and then had a camp out on the living room floor with their popcorn and watched a movie. Another exhausting day.

We left this morning and the ride home was no one near as bad as the ride down. We hit traffic and if wasn't for that, the ride would have been perfect. Scott woke up when we had about 30 minutes left to the trip and he only screamed for the last 20 minutes, so not so bad.

Unfortunately I left my battery to my camera home this weekend, so we did take some pics of the kids with Diana's camera, none from the party.

I stopped by Aunt Laurie's once we got back into town today since she was having a BBQ. Only stayed for a little while b/c Scott needed to go to bed. He is doing much better and hopefully he didn't spread it to anyone else!

Happy Memorial Day! Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Bestema

Last Sunday we had a Spiegel family brunch since Signy left for Norway this past Tuesday. She has arrived safely back in Norway along with her Mermaid! LOL

Olivia has already asked to go to Bestema and Papa's. Another year of having to explain how far away Norway is! :) Olivia is now at the age where she misses Bestema when she doesn't see her all the time. I think Sam and Scott and Morgan will take another year or so before they get it. I remember that with Olivia for the first year or two, but not anymore!

We bought Signy a Grandmother's Necklace with the 4 grandchildren's names and birthdays on it hanging from their birthstones. It is absolutely beautiful and she loved it!

We will miss you Bestema, hopefully the time passes quickly and you will be back before we know it!
